Biography
I am a secondary health and physical education teacher at Chestnut Ridge High School. I teacher 8th grade Health, 8th grade Physical Education, Wellness 9, Stress Management, Online Wellness 9 and Online Wellness 11. I began my career at Chestnut Ridge in the fall of 2002. I graduated Suma Cum Laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in December of 2000 after completing my student teaching in London, England. Currently, I am a member of our Student Assistance Program and advisor of Students Against Destructive Decisions. In 2016 I received the PA State SADD Advisor of the Year. In 2015 I created a positive social norms campaign called Setting the Pace, where students in our district answered one or more of the following questions:
Why have you chosen not to use drugs and alcohol?
How has drugs and alcohol affected your life?
How has someone else's use of drugs and alcohol affected your life?
In partnership with Personal Solutions Inc. I was able to publish a book and video of these narratives. To view this book online you can click the link below.
In addition, I worked with Personal Solutions Inc and SADD students in the Spring of 2023 to create a book, containing things to do in Bedford County and surrounding areas. The purpose was to highlight the many things you could do instead of using alcohol or drugs. You may view the online version below:
Finally I help operate our district's Secret Santa Program each year. This program provides staff and community members with the ability to help families in need over the holidays, providing them with gifts, clothing, food, furniture, appliances and more.
